August 2025
Hello in this sweet time of summer! It is such a special season to me and probably you, as we savor the warmth and abundance knowing that soon it will change. One of my favorite experiences this time of year is the vibration of the insects and small animals – the cicadas, crickets, frogs, and birds all harmonizing in chorus.
This lullaby calls me home to presence, to opening my whole energy body and feeling myself as vibration. For in this ocean of universe we are not separate, even though our senses may suggest otherwise. Everything has a vibration, each thought, each word, each of us. When I listen with my whole body to the lovesong of the insects this time of year I remember that I am connected, and from there so much feels possible, even amidst the pain and suffering that ebbs and flows throughout our lives as humans. Attuning to vibration is power, and who better than the horses to support our empowered presence?
I have felt called in the last few weeks to offer a new way for people to experience the herd in a one-hour gathering: Open Field. This is an experiment, it may be the only time we do this or it may be the first of many – who knows?! So I’m introducing and inviting you to our first Open Field. The theme is listening, in honor of our vibratory friends in nature this time of year. Please join us on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11am for a 60-ish minute gathering. For more information please email us.
Our big news this summer is that here at Inner Freedom we have a new member in the herd named Thelma. She is our first equine born into a domestic landscape, as all our other equines were born wild as mustangs/burros. She is a beautiful donkey, and we got her as a friend for Bunny, our other donkey. Thlema is a treasure, full of big heart energy, with a powerful bray inviting us into deepening the embodiment of our voice — it is truly an experience to be in her presence when she speaks.
Integrating her into the herd has been painful to witness and also very dear at times. She and Bunny weren’t fast friends, and there are still times when I observe the three horses and Bunny in a close circle and Thelma several layers out. Nature stepped in a few weeks after Thelma arrived when she went into heat; incredibly Bunny then became her close pal and went into heat a day later. The way our Mother Earth calls us into rhythms never ceases to amaze me.
Speaking of rhythms, with summer’s shift into fall we have our final Circling Center: The Moon on Saturday, September 27th. In this special daylong retreat we will gather to honor The Moon placement in our astrological chart, learn about The Moon in Tarot, and embody our moon nature with yoga and a sound experience with the lovely Jill Morgan of Prana/Life in New Buffalo and Granor Farm. We will also have ample horse time to connect and receive the wisdom of the herd.
Please check out more about our offerings below – we would love to see you this season.
With love,
Elizabeth and the herd
