Summer is upon us. I have been reflecting on how the herd’s new pasture which we have been working toward opening for six months mirrors my own journey in sharing horse medicine with people.
In December we removed old grape vines and their accompanying infrastructure to build a new pasture for the herd. We have been filling holes, smoothing the land, and working to ensure it’s safe for them to roam. This pasture is an additional one so that we can rotate the herd between the two we now have and give the grass a chance to grow back after grazing. It also means less mowing for us, and the exciting benefit of being able to see the horses from our kitchen window, something that gives me great joy. I managed to capture a video (above) of them entering the pasture for the first time, and you can hear the giggles and excitement from my friend and me witnessing it!
Six months ago I also planted a seed for myself personally to get certified in reiki, which is generally defined as universal life energy. A magical teacher appeared for me and I completed my certification this winter. And then a magical friend, Stacy Nelson, appeared to play with and share reiki. We did an exchange at her house a few times, and then we came to my barn. I was curious to try it with the herd, and we did. Stacy happens to have horse experience and is very comfortable with horses, and my herd took to her like they were waiting for her to walk in.
Stacy and I both have been left feeling true awe and humility as we have begun sharing reiki and creating a space for people to attune to the harmony the horses are sharing in this field of healing. This is a new pasture for me, Herd Heart Healings. We are excited to begin offering sessions to people at a reduced rate for the month of June.
Meanwhile I continue to graze in the pasture of Inner Freedom sharing horse medicine through Herd Experiences. I took a course the last six months deepening my knowledge of horse medicine and facilitation and after playing with this format, I’m really excited about how these sessions are developing. As a participant you receive a journal to note insights and a gift to support the integration of your experience with the herd.
